Senator Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya

Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya (born 26 December 1960) is a Nigerian politician and senator. Kabir Barkiya is a member of the All Progressive Congress and is currently a Senator in the 9th National Assembly (APC) Katsina Central District. From June 2019 to June 2023, he also served as Vice-Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Commission.

Kabir Abdul-lahi Barkiya, a civil engineer by profession and a seasoned career civil servant, is undoubtedly one of the best personalities produced by Katsina State. One good thing about him is that he needs no introduction. Just the mention of his name ignites a memory of a person of tremendous goodwill and performance.

His major spell in the public eye was when he held sway as the Director General of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). He repositioned the agency and made it very visible with the performance and credibility of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF). In the short time he headed the agency, he earned its credibility, and above all, his goodwill transcended to all and sundry. His policy of empowering local contractors and professionals in the construction industry has touched many people within and outside Katsina State. One of his numerous legislative interests also includes being the Vice Chairman of the Employment, Labor, and Productivity Committee from June 2019 to June 2023.

He is undoubtedly a tried-and-true character who is up to the task of leading Nigeria to greater heights.
